About innovation

The nature of innovation
Usługa
The problem that innovation answers
Older people are often unwilling or unable to leave the house for various reasons, feeling either stranded or left to fend for themselves. They clearly signal that they feel the need to increase their security and the need to know that they can turn to someone for help. The social innovation is a response to ongoing changes in attitudes towards elderly care.
How does innovation work?
The innovation involves the use of a transparent app installed on tablets made available to older people staying at their home. The main feature and function of the app is for older people to notify their wellbeing by tapping on a graphic (e.g. a graphic resembling a smile). Test persons will subjectively rate their health and well-being. The information will go to a care centre (external server), where it will be reviewed by the senior's caregiver.
Who is the innovation for?
Older people with reduced mobility and/or perception; people with disabilities.
Who can implement the innovation?
Institutions for older people; institutions for people with disabilities; NGOs; church entities; social welfare institutions (MOPS/GOSP); institutions implementing social innovations; institutions creating social policy in the region (ROPS); caregivers or family of older people.
Products resulting from testing
The outcome product of the innovation testing is a mobile app for electronic devices.
Results achieved as a result of testing
Prompt and effective wellbeing monitoring; early detection of health problems; personalised care; reduction of social isolation; optimisation of healthcare resources; greater patient awareness; emotional support for the older person.
