About innovation

The nature of innovation
Usługa
The problem that innovation answers
The innovation addresses the needs of intellectually-able adults with severe physical and/or sensory disabilities. Such people need assistance conducting activities of daily living, but their assistants often do things for them instead of supporting them. In addition, the access to the assistance is not sufficient and the service model itself is outdated. Thus, the needs and expectations of people with disabilities are not met. This innovation is also intended for people who do not live with an in-home caregiver and require ongoing support, but also stay too active and independent to benefit from 'standard' support models. This applies to approx. 200,000 Polish men and women as estimated by the innovators.
How does innovation work?
This solution is about providing adults with mobilityy and/or sensory disabilities with personal assistant services, i.e. support in carrying out activities related to, among other things: self-care (e.g. personal hygiene), commuting, managing the household, fulfilling their roles in the family, undertaking life activities and communicating with other people. After signing a contract detailing the scope of services and the rules of their provision, the person with disability receives ongoing help from one or more assistants chosen by this person. The assistants try to motivate people with disabilities to make their own decisions as much as possible and try to act in such a way as to stay invisible to other people.
Who is the innovation for?
Intellectually-able adults (aged 18-35) with mobility and/or visual impairment that hinders their daily functioning.
