About innovation

The nature of innovation
Usługa
The problem that innovation answers
The innovation addresses the frustration of the people with disabilities who are on the waiting list for a placeat Community Mutual Aid Homes and those who do not receive any assistance at all
How does innovation work?
The innovation involves the development of a Local Mutual Aid Network - a low-cost and effective support system for people with disabilities, relying mainly on volunteers. The project aims to engage the local community, including people with disabilities who receive support from Community Mutual Aid Homes and Occupational Therapy Workshops. On the other hand, we strive to also meet the social needs of people not receiving any form of help in the form of assistance or care services, inclusion services or ability to audit workshops. The key element is the establishment of a Volunteer Center where people with disabilities can provide one another with services in accordance with the concept of mutual aid. The innovation does not intend to replace the services provided so far (Social Welfare Centers, Community Mutual Aid Homes and Occupational Therapy Workshops). On the contrary, it is a complementary element of the social support system. The key difference is the shift from services provided and funded by the municipality to those provided by people with disabilities themselves.

Results achieved as a result of testing
10 people benefited from care and assistance services in their homes as well as attending workshops as audit students. Both groups (20 people) benefited from inclusion services. As part of assistance and care services, volunteers helped people with shopping, cleaning, running errands, obtaining information, making medical appointments, borrowing books from the library or organising their leisure time activities. In addition to assistance with activities of daily living the service included meeting the social needs. Another element of the innovation was introducing the possibility of auditing standard engagement and therapeutic classes for the people on the waiting list at the Community Mutual Aid Center in Wisznice. Furthermore, as part of the inclusion service, meetings were held for people benefiting from care and assistant services in their homes, auditors and volunteers.
