How does innovation work?
MobiAssistant is a smartphone app that supports dependants such as people with visual impairments, seniors or people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities in performing daily household chores. The easy-to-use app is intended for people not proficient in using modern technologies. The app facilitates the communication between the dependants and their assistants, caregivers and/or volunteers. With the built-in camera in their smartphones, the dependants can use voice messages or live videocalls, probably the most important feature of the app, to ask the relatives or volunteers for help.

–Dependent people (e.g. people with intellectual disabilities, seniors and people with visual impairment); –Caregivers, volunteers and/or assistants of dependent people.

–Caregivers, volunteers and/or assistants of dependent people; –organizations and institutions supporting dependent people and their relatives; –Trainers and social workers.
Products resulting from testing
A smartphone app; – Improvements to the app after the trial stage: improved video and sound quality, availability of voice messages during calls with an assistant/caregiver.
Results achieved as a result of testing
By using MobiAssistant, the relatives of dependent people can leave them more often and be sure that they are safe. The dependants can also be supported remotely (e.g. via video call, voice message).
