This innovation addresses the problem of the cognitive decline and memory loss in elderly dependants with dementia and the lack of support for their caregivers
How does innovation work?
The innovation aims to improve the well-being of people with dementia, to maintain their cognitive functions at the current level and to improve the relationship between the elderly dependants and their caregivers. This can be achieved through listening to appropriately selected music together. The caregivers can prepare sessions at home and when it suits them with the aid of specially prepared playlists. Key benefits for elderly dependants suffering from dementia based on the participation in the innovation: - Better mood, calming effect - Recalling memories - Improving the relationship with the caregiver. Key benefits of the innovation for the caregivers: - Less time required to perform certain activities of daily living, e.g. putting the person to sleep - Improved relationship with the elderly dependant, e.g. increased willingness to perform hygiene tasks - Relaxation.

The participants had the opportunity to listen to music together. This was a break in the daily routine. It improved the well-being of elderly dependants and their relationship with their caregivers. The caregivers had the chance gain some new energy and strength, while the elderly dependants gained a feeling that someone took interest in them
