The problem that innovation answers
This innovation addresses the problems of the poor daily diet of dependent elderly people, the lack of knowledge about nutrition and the excessive burden on their caregivers.
How does innovation work?
The innovation aims to increase the quality of life of dependent elderly people, improve their daily diet and knowledge on nutrition, as well as increase the frequency of their social contacts.
As part of the innovation, participants of Occupational Therapy Workshop prepare two-course lunches (according to a menu consulted with a dietician) and bring them to the homes of elderly dependants. This way seniors are provided with meals adapted to their diet, they can continue living in their own homes and the need for institutional care is postponed. For participants of Occupational Therapy Workshops, people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, this is a form of rehabilitation which helps them develop social and professional skills. For both groups this is an opportunity to forge new relationships.

Results achieved as a result of testing
Seniors were provided with lunches adapted to their dietary needs. They were praised as very tasty and easy to digest. Family members taking care of their elderly dependants were very pleased with this innovation too. It relieved them of the responsibiliy to prepare lunches for seniors.
