About innovation

The nature of innovation
Model organizacyjny
The problem that innovation answers
After graduating, people with disabilities often do not pursue a job. This may be due to: – Wrong choice of school; – Failure to diagnose properly; – Failure to use vocational guidance tools; – Lack of career counseling; – Anxiety about pursuing a job; – Lack of individual support during the internship. When choosing the school for their children, parents of children with disabilities base their decision on the distance to the school and not on the educational offer of the school itself. Students and their parents do not view the school as a place that prepares the student to enter the labor market, but rather as an obligation mandated by the law.
How does innovation work?
The innovation aims to create mechanisms helping people with intellectual disabilities make the transition from school to the labor market. The positions which the recipient of the innovation would be filling are to be individually selected with the support of a 'shadow' instructor. The innovation employs a model, developed by a team of experts, which will help increase the employability of people with intellectual disabilities. The model represents a coherent system involving the special school, its teachers and instructors, parents and employers. Anyone who knows the recipient of the innovation, their parents, the environment and the employer can become the teacher/'shadow' instructor of a person with intellectual disabilities. The 'shadow' does not monitor the progress of the person with a disability in the workplace, but they are actively involved and correct mistakes. This solution can be used to prepare people with disabilities for a job or an internship. The main objective of the innovation is for people with intellectual disabilities to acquire the necessary job skills and competence needed on the labor market and in the work environment. The added value of the project is the attempt to dispel the stereotype that people with intellectual disabilities cannot work.
Who is the innovation for?
People with intellectual disabilities entering the labor market: – Students of special schools; – Students of special educational centers, community day care centers or occupational therapy workshops.
Who can implement the innovation?
