The problem that innovation answers
People with acquired mobility disabilities are not allowed to use the sewing rooms in Vocational Activity Centres, even if they can sew. It is also a problem that they cannot learn a trade in vocational schools because the sewing machines are not adapted to their needs. Vocational proposals aimed at people with disabilities are often unambitious and low-paid, while sewing could be a more creative skill and increase self-esteem and comfort in life.
How does innovation work?
The innovation involves the development and use of an add-on, made using 3D printing technology, to help people with disabilities to use sewing machines. The classic pedals have been replaced by arm-controlled levers, opening up employment opportunities for people with reduced mobility.
