About innovation

The nature of innovation
Produkt
The problem that innovation answers
Poland lacks systemic support for dementia patients and their caregivers. There is no central information system, the data is scattered and existing educational books are written in scientific, incomprehensible language, making them not suitable for educating children on dementia. Children who encounter neurodegenerative diseases, which they do not understand, in their loved ones have to deal with their own emotions, such as uncertainty, confusion, sadness, fear of losing the love of a grandparent, guilt and fear of the unknown.
How does innovation work?
As part of the innovation, a series of ten children books “Szu in quest of memory” has been created to address the problem of neurodegenerative diseases. The books support both children and their natural curiosity about others, but also the parents who are given advice on how to explain to children the unusual behaviour of sick relatives. The books aim to improve the relationship between the person suffering from neurodegenerative diseases and children in their family. By involving the child in the process of supporting the dementia patient we prevent their social isolation, and we foster in children acceptance and openness towards illness and being different. The books tell the story of a young boy to whom the children can relate. On the pages of the book the children can find colors that dementia patients recognize the longest. The books also include information for the parents.
