The problem that innovation answers
Young people entering the labor market are not able to plan their career and assess their own potential. They tend to have high demands (e.g. remuneration) without possessing qualities the employers seek and thus losing the chance of getting an interesting job. Employers also complain that young people lack the sense of responsibility, which manifests itself, for example, in quitting the job suddenly, often without completing important tasks they were supposed to finish.
In many university courses, students do not acquire universal humanistic or psychological knowledge. No holistic programme is offered on the the market to help young people not only in personal development and understanding oneself, but also in learning to be attuned to problems and needs of others. There are many self-presentation workshops teaching, e.g., how to promote oneself at a job interview. Although they help get the job, they do not teach how to keep it.
How does innovation work?
“School of Social Mindfulness" is a workshop project on writing reportages to assist its participants in improving their social skills. The workshop consists of eight modules with information, videos, exercises, book recommendations and sample workshop plans. The project aims to develop the following qualities and skills in participants: emotional intelligence, active listening, conversational techniques, politeness in dealing with other people, creativity, self-presentation techniques, writing and editing skills. These skills are universal in nature, but they may prove particularly useful on the labor market or in social interactions.
