The biggest problem for former foster care recipients is finding the first job and paying for an apartment. Young people are unprepared to enter the labor market and unaware of what being independent entails. This often means finding employment as cheap labor, acquiring only basic, easily replaceable skills, relying on social benefits or returning to socially excluded milieu they originate from.
